OEM vs PMA : Understanding Part Manufacture Approval

Abstract:

The PMA (Parts Manufacturer Approval) is a combined design and production approval for modification and replacement articles. It allows a manufacturer to produce and sell these articles for installation on type certificated products. One of the ways to control maintenance cost is to reduce the cost of maintenance materials/spare part. PMA parts are new parts, fully approved by the authority. They are savings ranging from 25% to 45% of OEM part. Under GMF and Garuda Indonesia as the parent company, GMF PMA Organization is a newcomer in the PMA business. We are keen to introduce our brand to our market by executing our marketing strategies.

Our strongest advantage over our competitors are our location and price. We are located at the heart of Indonesian aviation, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Jakarta. We are where most airlines on Indonesia are placing their hubs at. By being close to customers, we have easy access to market our products to them. Customers don’t have to spend much on product shipping, and it will benefit both the customers and us. The price we are offering is lower than OEM’s price, which could be the main reason why customers will buy our products. GMF PMA Organization will have the capability to manufacture certified aircraft part especially in cabin parts, as we have the approval by DGCA. Our facility in GMF is equipped with high-end tools and machines that ensure the precision and accuracy of the products. Our DGCA-approved components will be readily available to be installed on Boeing 737 Series, Boeing 777-300ER, and other compatible aircrafts. Parts installation or replacement services will be provided and performed by GMF in our maintenance facility in Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Jakarta, or in other places agreed by both GMF and the customer. We are also willing to ship our PMA products under agreements with our customers.
